Dr Anvitha D Bakshi :)

Anvi kutty,

Till today, neither me nor Amma thought or wished or wanted to enforce any profession on to you when you grow up , we still don't do and we won't in future too. But today something happened that made us feel faintly that may be you could be the first medical doctor in our family.

Innovation is something I am trying to learn from you off late. Slowly as we were getting absorbed in the routines of the day we suddenly noticed you doing something you have never done before. You picked the headset of one of the mobile phones and started playing yourself as a doctor with your Aaji. The ear piece became the stethoscope, the other part you tied around your neck and you started using the same vocab like your doctor. " Moocha izhuthu vidunga" you said, asking your granny to breathe when you checked her heart beat.

To add to that your emotions, gestures everything was trying to be a doctor. You kept a small pen under my arms and slowly withdrew it and said with a typical doctory-delibration " Hmmm 100( Hundred) irukku...". Then you started writing prescription prescribing medicines , suggesting doses, this time to your mom. And your Amma was the lucky one to get your first injection :).

I found bliss in possessing a smart phone as I was able to capture these moments.

"Moocha izhuth.."

And a small video clipping of how you did it is here

As always this made us flow into dreamland and me and your mom were flying and for the first time we felt you will probably become a doctor. One thing led to another and we ended up buying you a doctor set :).

These were the pics taken after you started using your doctor kit.

Pics with your doctor kit

And the punch was when I asked you " Dr Enna eppo check up pannuveenga?" ( When will you do a check up for me?) and that is when with your doctory mazhalai you replied " Naan mammam saaptitu check up panren" :)[ I will check up after eating mammam]
Mazhalai is a tamil word for baby talk.

Cine songs from a mini angel...

Dear kutty.. we have been puzzled to see the pace with which you pick cine songs. From the day we took you to our first film till today, your lips have always tried to sing every verse in every song in every movie possible..

First song that you were able to pick up and song was "Aathi... Athi.." from Aadugalam. You once stunned both me and the ice cream vendor when you started singing "chammak chalo" by listening to just the starting beats. One of your recent additions has been the Kolaveri...Its been a while since we have tried to capture you singing the kolaveri song.. Here it is as we caught you singing

Its amazing how you pick all the words and can identify the song with a faint sound of the song's BGM. Not only kolaveri.. but you could sing other songs too with perfect ease and confidence.. Some of them being cute pondati ( never expected my daughter to fall for a simbu number",jelly belly, husku husku laima, nanban pola yaru machan.. your recent favorite.. And ofcourse the sara sara saara kathu from Vaagai sooda va which too we were able to capture
you singing.

Anvi sona,The flair with which you sing cine songs surprises us.. Nothing more to post.. the videos say it all

chu.. chu..

Sona,
Getting you to do chu chu and potty has been one of the primary challenges that your amma and I have faced in recent times. How much ever frustrated or angry we get you always have this knack to bring a smile on our face during this difficult endeavor.

Yesterday was one such instance that I will keep laughing for ages and will surely be one of the stories I will tell my grand children about you.

As usual I had a hard time taking you to the bathroom after asking, scolding, shouting and at last pleading.

"chu chu kar Anvitha".. I said
" Yethni pa... " you confront
"try kara kutty.." I continue pleading only to get a shocker
"nahi pa.. muthi constipate ongala" ( Its not coming appa, it has constipated :))

Not sure how and when you picked such words.. but man everyday with you has been like a fairy tale.

The Mastkalandar Baloon story...

Anvi kutty,

Every day with you has been a memorable journey for us. The speed with which you have grown and the deeds you do gives us wake up alarm that you are growing fast. This was once such instance when I got a jolt from you..

Few days back we decided to get dinner from Mastkalandar. As usual you and I jumped on to our car and just when I was about to on the ignition you asked me.." Appa .. joola". As it was already dark and as I was scared of reptiles prowling in that area I told you " ujaa kutti" ( Tomorrow). Surprisingly you didn't ask again which was a little puzzling to me but I neglected.

The journey continued, we went on singing our routine rhymes and some slokas in between. We reached Mast Kalandar, got the parcel and just when we were about to start the manager in Mast Kalandar said "Happy New Year" to you and gave a baloon. You were thrilled to see such a mammoth baloon and were very happy to take it home. Now the interesting part of the journey started..

Slowly as I got absorbed in the Bangalore traffic, you started talking something to the baloon, I didnt notice initially but as your conversation with the baloon built I got curious to know what you were doing.

"Kaya Karthaisa Anvitha.." I asked.. ( What are you doing? Anvitha)
"Balloona..." You started ( the baloon)

"Sangas goshta aikthini..joola kelama manla..me nokka andhaara ongala manlen... kaan kee mala kelal sodnaska esa praan kadtheeski thooo manala baloon" ( The baloon is not listening to me.. it wanted to play in the joola, I said as it is dark you shouldnt , it replies that I am killing her by not allowing to play as she wants)

I got the shock of life, I didnt know you will narrate what you felt about me not allowing you to play in the Joola in a such an encrypted way through a story...
